About KSC:

Kurdistan Save the Children is a non-profit, non-political, and non-sectarian organization that

provides assistance regardless of race, gender, traditions, political or religious affiliation.

We work with children in various fields of child protection, sponsorship, health and education. Our

main aim is to work directly or indirectly, to ensure a better future for children, through improving

and providing their various medical, social, economical, and educational needs.

KSC has been established in 1991. our main office is located in Sulaymaniyah.

 Project title:

Protection and assistance for refugees and asylum seeker children in Erbil and Sulaymaniyah governorates.

About project:

This project seeks to provide protection services to refugees/asylum seekers, IDPS and host community children with the main focus on refugees/asylum seekers residing in the urban and camp areas of Erbil and Sulaymaniyah Governorates through: Providing specialized child protection services and support through case management for refugees, Conducting BIA and participating in the BID Panel under the overall framework of UNHCR’s Best Interest Procedures (BIP), Establishing or strengthening the capacity of community-based child protection structures, Community outreach/mobilization such as conducting awareness raising sessions for children and their parents/caregivers, Providing recreational, structured and non-structured PSS activities, as well as physiotherapy for children with disabilities, providing capacity building to government counterparts responsible for child protection.

 

Responsibilities:

Responsibility 1:  Trainings provision and organization

Task 1 – Identify and assess the needs of trainings in Child Protection, including (but not limited to) Child Protection concepts, Child Protection main issues, PSS, Case management, Community-based approach, etc, for KSC teams, project teams, government and CP actors, community members, and Child Protection committees.

Task 2 – Support the team when technical issues are faced in the implementation of activities

Task 3 - Participate in capacity building of community based structures/public services

Task 4 - Provide trainings, mentoring, and capacity building sessions to the project team, government workers, and other CP actors.

Task 5 – Monitoring of the trainings’ impact and improvement of activities’ quality regarding the trainings provided

 

Responsibility 2: Creation of tools for trainings

Task 1 – Create training tools adapted to the participants.

Task 2 – Stay abreast of any development (new SOPs, new concepts, etc) in Child Protection and adapt the material when needed

Task 3 – Create poster and other material with main Child Protection principles/issues

 

 

Responsibility 3: Reporting, planning and communication

Task 1 – Prepare weekly and monthly planning to be validated with the project manager and the CP specialist.

Task 2 – Share all the materials created and used with the Project Management team.

Task 3 – Participate in Meetings, Network groups at the field level when requested by the Project Manager.

 

Qualifications & Preferred Skills

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • certificated trainer required 
  • A minimum of (3+) years’ experience in a related Field.
  • Experience in the fields of Child Protection.
  • Excellent verbal and written Arabic, Kurdish, and English language skills are required.
  • Good computer skills including a knowledge of MS Office (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint) and e-mail are required.
  • Prior work experience with a NGO and facilities is a plus.
  • Ability to work and travel to Erbil
  • An ability to build relationships to be able to serve the community.
  • ‎ An ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • commitment to PSEA Policy.
  • Commitment to Child Safeguarding policy.
  • Minimum BA degree in the field of social sciences, humanities, or related field
  • Previous experience in organizing and delivering trainings for communities, local organizations, NGOs and/or government staff.
