Description
• In addition to the description below, the Medical Coordinator shall also be responsible for the coordination of medical assets within the HALO Project Team and the coordination of continual medical training to 2 other professional Medics and approximately 40 national and international staff. • Responsibility for the health and wellbeing of HALO members of staff throughout the entire spectrum of their work. • Act as medical first responder, treating any casualties during field operations conducting humanitarian de-mining. • Assist with minor ailments through normal work in the office and during training events. • Advise all HALO team members on preventative measures to be taken to avoid communicable disease and other preventable illnesses. • Liaise with local medical service providers as required. • Responsibility for the correct storage and resupply of medical kits to assist with injuries. • Conduct all activity in accordance with The HALO Trust’s safety regulations. • Carry out any other tasks and duties allocated by HALO senior management in support of the team’s efforts to remove the threat of mines and explosives in Iraq. • Additionally, HALO Trust requires one of the Medics to undergo additional training to become a member of a Non-Technical Survey team, assessing areas where Improvised Explosive Devices and other explosive hazards are likely to be found.
Qualifications & Preferred Skills
• Registered nurse or registered paramedic with at least 2 years practical experience working in an emergency unit or pre-hospital (ambulance) role. • A qualification in Advanced Trauma Life Support and experience as a field medic is highly desirable, though not essential. • The ability to work well in a team is essential. • Have a hardworking and flexible approach. • Good organisational skills. • Be willing to sometimes do different tasks and help others. • Patient and understanding. • Fast learner.
